A música como instrumento de desenvolvimento na infância: uma análise a partir do olhar docente.

Abstract

To understand the importance of music both inside and outside the school context, as well as its various contributions to children's cognitive, socio-affective, and psychomotor development, this study aims to comprehend the significance of music for child development. To achieve this, it is necessary to explore music and its benefits for children's education during the Early Childhood Education stage, as well as the contributions of musical education within the school context, recognizing it as an instrument for cognitive, socio-affective, and psychomotor development. Therefore, we conducted an exploratory and dialectical field research, supported by a literature review, adopting a qualitative approach. For data collection, we used semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions, conducted with three teachers from the municipal education system of Icó, Ceará, Brazil. The research results show that the teachers acknowledge music as an important tool for children's learning and development. Their involvement with music benefits and contributes to Early Childhood Education students. Despite this recognition, it became evident that there are gaps due to the lack of specific curricular training related to music, which limits the teachers' repertoire on the various possibilities of musical teaching.
