Abstract

This study analyzed the work of Aeschylus playwright, a Greek tragedy entitled "Prometheus Bound." Seeking to analyze the relationship between power and knowledge on promises tragedy Chained. Work to be done through literature searches and comparison between the corpus and other texts that deal with the myth of Prometheus, such as manuals on mythology, dictionaries and literary works. The work consists of dialogues involving the characters in a story full of drama and imagination leads the reader to understand about the role of the gods in two important desires of man, which would be the power and knowledge. In the story, Zeus, the greatest of the gods, decides to chain a former ally: Prometheus accused of many crimes, one of them was stealing from the gods and giving man fire. However, Prometheus keeps a big secret that threatens the power of Zeus. As insists not reveal, is sentenced to a more severe punishment. Continuing his story, Prometheus says, for love ace creatures, managed to save them from destruction and gave them the fire for him stolen from the sky, allowing the dawn of civilization, the construction of knowledge.
