Representatividade negra nos clássicos da literatura infantil brasileira: anos 80 do século XX.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the representation of Black people in classic works of Brazilian children's literature. To this end, a bibliographic research was conducted, involving a survey of online and physical library collections of works published in the 1980s, namely "O Menino Marrom" by Ziraldo and "Menina Bonita do Laço de Fitas" by Ana Maria Machado. The analysis of the works was carried out based on analytical categories. Thus, the results obtained showed the presence of Black characters as central protagonists in the narratives of the two analyzed works, whose characteristics were portrayed in a positive way, in order to highlight the beauty and qualities of Black people, something that can be considered an advance for the 1980s. In short, the research demonstrates that the analyzed works are part of the pioneering in the positive representation of Black characters, challenging standards and stereotypes of the period in which they were written. Despite some limitations, the highlighted works offer affirmative narratives. It is evident, therefore, that such works are consolidated as essential tools for the construction of an authentic and resistant identity by Black children.
