Rurbanização: dinâmicas socioespaciais e práticas cotidianas nos Distritos de Cuncas e Iara, município do Barro/CE.

Abstract

The analysis of urban transformations allows for understanding the correlations between rural and urban areas, indicating that the continuity of rural customs in urbanized areas demonstrates a temporal persistence of these characteristics. The evolution of relationships between rural and urban spaces requires an analysis of social and spatial changes, as well as a revision of the concepts of rural and urban. The increase in flows of people, goods, and capital between these spaces highlights a complex interdependence, intensified by globalization and the expansion of the technical-scientific-informational environment. This complexity challenges the distinction between urban and rural spaces, as observed in the districts of Cuncas and Iara, in the municipality of Barro, Ceará. This rural-urban continuum, or "rurbanization," involves social interaction in environments of diverse cultures, combining rural and urban values, and reveals unique challenges. The districts of Cuncas and Iara, characterized by slow economic and social development and a declining population, demand an understanding of socio-spatial dynamics to promote more equitable socioeconomic development. The objective of this research is to analyze the socio-spatial dynamics and daily practices in Cuncas and Iara, correlating the self- perception of inhabitants as rural, urban, or rurban with their habits and customs. With a review of the concepts of rural, urban, and rurbanization, fieldwork involving in loco observation and investigation of the socio-spatial dynamics of the districts through open and closed questionnaires allowed for the collection of primary data for a qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as understanding the self-perception of residents as rural, urban, or rurban.The combination of images, maps, graphs, and tables provided a holistic view of the transformations and continuities in the districts, facilitating the identification of patterns, correlations, and trends. This research highlights the need for a critical and sensitive analysis of the particularities of the districts of Cuncas and Iara by integrating contemporary concepts of rural, urban, and rurban, recognizing the complexity of rurban dynamics.
