Abstract

The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the impact of the Curriculum for the Training of Officers of the Military Police of Rondônia (PMRO) on the rise and assumption of black women to the officialate, a predominantly male military power space. As a specific objective, we sought to evaluate how intersectionality determines the social mobility of black, poor and peripheral women in these spaces of power, in this specific case, in the PMRO combat officialate, considering the following investigative question: how the place speech, gender and race translate into advances, or not, in the professional path of these women? As theoretical foundations for the analysis of intersectionality, support was sought in the studies of authors such as Davis (2016), Lorde (2009) and Akotirene (2019), among others; regarding the curriculum, the analysis was supported by theorists like Silva (2010) and Sacristán (2000). In addition, there was a need to seek references in the training courses of official women through the recovery of the memory of the courses, in the legislation that supports the training and also in internal rules of the PMRO. Such information was collected through documentary archeology work. The hypothesis suggested is that, in spite of all the difficulties, the black woman has achieved the official status in PMRO, although in an amount below the percentage representation in society. The analysis of the officer training curriculum, as well as the confrontation between the theoretical framework and the advances in the professional career of black officers signal the fact that race, gender and the place from which they speak have a decisive impact in defining which place in the chain command will be occupied by black women who overcome the barrier and achieve official status.
