Sapateiros, agricultores e artesãos no Agreste Pernambucano: o trabalho local até o fim do calçado de couro em Toritama-PE (1960-1990).

Abstract

This paper aims to problematize the phenomenon of local work performed in Toritama-PE, from 1960 to 1990. In addition, it aims to reflect on aspects such as: local commerce, relations between employees and employers, modernization of the techniques used and the effects of such aspects on the lives of these workers, as well as to relate the work at that time to regional and national historiography. To this end, we used historical-dialectical materialism as theoretical-methodological support, as well as the use of various sources such as the newspaper Diário de Pernambuco and the oral source as one of the main sources for this research, in addition to official sources such as the minutes of the city council of Toritama and its organic law and local chroniclers. It is worth mentioning that, to support this study, we used authors such as: Thompson, Hobsbawm, Badaró, Alberti, Sebe, Adilson Filho, Navarro among others.
