Associação entre características dos trabalhadores na suinocultura no brasil e seus sintomas ocupacionais.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the symptoms found in swine production workers, and to relate them with their age and length of time working. This is and economic sector where a large amount of workers is concentrated and they are exposed to numerous labor risk and accidents. Ergonomics is an area of study able to provide elements for knowledge about labor risk involved in certain working areas. In this research a questionnaire was used for evaluating the working environment related to life quality of the workers, and whether they presented complains and/or symptoms or not. Twenty five individuals who worked 8 hours daily within commercial swine housing were selected randomly. The case study was carried out in commercial swine production in the state of São Paulo, Brasil. From registered data a statistical analysis was proceeded using Fischer test and the Odds Ratio for both evaluate and measure the association between age and length of time working, with each selected symptom. The results showed that the work did not represent danger for worker’s heath, and that there is a negative correlation between tiredness and time spending working in a certain function
